HC Deb 23 June 2003 vol 407 c625W
Mr. Stephen O'Brien

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the Government's policy on controlling risk in financial markets in the UK. [117679]

Mr. Boateng

The Government established the Financial Services Authority to regulate the operation of financial markets in the UK, including how they manage risk. The Financial Services Authority also working through a standing Committee, has joint responsibility along with the Bank of England and HM Treasury for addressing issues which may have implications for financial stability in the UK.
