§ Mr. CaplinAs at 1 May 2003 whole Army strength (which comprises of United Kingdom trained Army personnel, Gurkhas and full-time reserve staff) stood at 102,430, which represents a shortfall of 4,550 against the current requirement. Recruiting and retention performance during the last 12 months has been particularly encouraging with whole Army strength increasing by over 1,600 personnel.
Precise information on the details relating to individual regiments is not readily available, however I shall ensure the hon. Member receives the details when the information is available.
