§ Ms BlearsTo help prevent conditions linked to smoking we have established a comprehensive tobacco programme focussed on delivering a reduction in the number of smokers. As part of this, between April 1999 and December 2002 over 529,000 people set a quit date with the help of the national health service smoking cessation services.
