To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will make a statement on ending of the Home and Leisure Accident Surveillance System; and what discussions he has had with the Department of Trade and Industry on this matter. [122478]

[holding answer 30 June 2003]: The decision to end the Home Accident Surveillance System is a matter for the Department for Trade and Industry.

However the decision took into account work by the Department of Health on how to improve the local surveillance of accidental injury.
