HL Deb 16 July 2003 vol 651 c135WA
Lord Alton of Liverpool

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will enforce the law if attempts are made to use the eggs of aborted unborn babies in fertility treatments. [HL3810]

Lord Warner

The use in fertility treatment of eggs taken from an aborted fetus is prohibited in the United Kingdom under Section 3A of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990. The Government will require the law to be enforced should any attempt be made to breach the Act.
