To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many people have been diagnosed with severe acute respiratory syndrome. [122451]

As of Friday 27 June 2003, there had been 8,450 cases of sever acute respiratory syndrome and 810 deaths reported from 29 countries. The United Kingdom reported four probable cases, all of whom have recovered.
