To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he has set a date for the payment of grant to local authorities for improving social services for older people, as set out in his letter of 22 May to local authorities; and if he will make a statement. [122873]

Subject to parliamentary approval, the delayed discharges grant will be paid in one instalment to local authorities before 31 July 2003.
