To ask the Deputy Prime Minister how many dwellings were constructed by registered social housing landlords, excluding local authorities, in each of the last 10 years for which figures are available; and how many are planned to be built in the next financial year. [91143]

The numbers of new dwellings constructed by Registered Social Landlords in each of the last 10 years are shown in the following table. Information from local authority housing strategies shows, for 2003–04, a projected 31,000 total of new dwellings constructed and existing stock acquired by Registered Social Landlords.
