To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment has been made by his Department of the number of(a) accidents associated with heavy commercial vehicles in each year since 1997 and (b) the associated fatalities.[93808]

The number of accidents involving at least one HGV in each year since 1997, and the associated fatalities from those accidents are shown in the table:
