§ Mr. Dhanda
To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many British nationals made an official confession of a criminal offence in Bahrain between 2000 and 2003 without the presence of a lawyer. [90301]

We are aware of one British national who has stated that he confessed to a crime to the Bahraini authorities without a lawyer present between 2000 and 2003.

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how many British nationals made an official confession in prison in Bahrain between 2000 and 2003. [90302]

We are aware of one British national who was detained and subsequently confessed to committing a crime between 2000 and 2003.
