HL Deb 08 January 2003 vol 642 c201WA
Earl Russell

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether those whose exceptional leave to remain is not renewed will have the option of applying for naturalisation as British subjects. [HL726]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Home Office (Lord Filkin)

We can see no circumstances in which people refused leave to remain could meet the criteria for naturalisation.
