§ Margaret HodgeThe Secretary of State has made no assessment of the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which is not designated to receive funding directly from the Higher Education Funding Council for England. However, the Institute is exploring whether it can be so designated. To this end the Funding Council and the Quality Assurance Agency are working with the Institute to assess its progress towards meeting the criteria for direct funding.
