HC Deb 19 December 2003 vol 416 c74W
Mr. Streeter

To ask the Solicitor-General what assessment she has made of the case for bringing charges of treason against British detainees in Guantanamo Bay upon their return to the United Kingdom. [144840]

The Solicitor-General

Decisions to prosecute are made independently by the Crown Prosecution Service in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors. A prosecution will be brought if there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute. If a decision to prosecute is made all relevant charges will be considered in deciding what charge an individual should face.
