Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for Health how many(a) nurses and (b) doctors are employed in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire health authority. [141358]

Information on the number of nurses and doctors employed by Portsmouth Hospitals National Health Service Trust, Portsmouth City Primary Care Trust and East Hampshire Primary Care Trust is shown in the table.

1Excludes hospital medical hospital practitioners and hospital medical clinical assistants, most of whom are GPs working part time in hospitals.

2All practitioners include GMS unrestricted principals, PMS contracted GPs, PMS salaried GPs, restricted principals, assistants, GP registrars, salaried doctors (Para 52 SFA), PMS other and GP retainers.

3Practice nurses are employed by unrestricted principals and equivalents (UPEs). UPEs include GMS unrestricted principals, PMS contracted GPs and PMS salaried GPs.
