HC Deb 19 September 2002 vol 390 cc196-7W
Gregory Barker

To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what representations her Department has received regarding projected clean-up costs for the next 20 years at Sellafield after BNFL privatisation. [69504]

Mr. Wilson

The Department of Trade and Industry has not received any representations on this specific issue. However, it has recently published a White Paper "Managing the Nuclear Legacy: A Strategy for Action" which sets out plans to drive forward the clean up of the civil nuclear legacy safely, securely, cost effectively and in ways which protect the environment for current and future generations. The White Paper seeks views on a range of issues, including those related to clean up costs. Copies are available from the Libraries of the House.
