HC Deb 19 September 2002 vol 390 cc229-30W
Mr. Davidson

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what his latest assessment is of the situation regarding cross-border terrorist incursions into India. [73057]

Mr. Mike O'Brien

As my right hon. Friend, the Foreign Secretary, made clear during his visit to India and Pakistan on 19–20 July, we all want to see a permanent end to infiltration across the Line of Control. The recent reduction in the level of infiltration, and de-escalatory steps taken by both sides, are welcome developments. We will continue to work with international partners to encourage India and Pakistan to maintain the de-escalatory momentum and return to productive dialogue on all outstanding issues between them, including Kashmir.
