HC Deb 31 October 2002 vol 391 c996W
Mr. Salmond

To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer what action he is taking to alleviate the effect on small businesses of increases in insurance premium costs since 11 September 2001; if he will estimate the impact of Government policy on increasing insurance costs on small businesses. [78211]

Ruth Kelly

The Government is aware of the recent rise in insurance premiums and the particular problems faced by some small businesses. The Government is working with trade associations, the insurance industry and organisations such as the Federation of Small Businesses, to try and maximize the availability of affordable liability insurance cover.
