HC Deb 07 November 2002 vol 392 c671W
Adam Price

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what assessment he has made of projected pensioner poverty. [79766]

Mr. McCartney

We are committed to tackling poverty and social exclusion among older people. The Government are spending an extra £6 billion a year in real terms on pensioners as a result of policies introduced since 1997. This includes £2½ billion more on the poorest third of pensioners.

Our annual Opportunity for all reports monitor progress against a range of indicators of the many different aspects of poverty and social exclusion affecting older peoples' lives.
