To ask the Deputy Prime Minister what strategies his Department has to ensure that there is no ageism in recruitment and retention processes. [79286]

The Office of the Deputy Prime Minister is committed to age diversity and is implementing the recommendations of the Government's Winning the Generation Game report.

Discrimination on the ground of age is not permitted under our equal opportunities policy.

Our recruitment, development, performance management and retention policies are continuously reviewed. There are no age barriers to employment and retirement age is determined on business needs only.
