HL Deb 06 November 2002 vol 640 c103WA
Lord Lamont of Lerwick

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What warning they have given to the Russian Government about incursions by the armed forces of Russia into the independent state of Georgia. [HL6195]

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Amos):

We are closely following the situation in Georgia. We have urged both the Russians and Georgians to cooperate over security, including along their border, in a spirit of openness and transparency, and to avoid any actions that would exacerbate tensions. With EU partners we have expressed our support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia.
