To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on negotiations with Chairman Arafat of the PLO regarding the intifada. [78441]

Mr. Mike O'Brien

International efforts are currently focussed on ending violence in Israel and the Occupied Territories, including the current intifada, by restarting a process of negotiation which will lead to a final settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. We continue to give those efforts our full support.
