§ Mr. MilibandDirectors of local education authorities have no powers to call meetings of school governing bodies, but may invite governors, either individually or collectively, to meet them. Paragraphs 24 to 32 of the Code of Practice on Local Education Authority-School Relations (issued in February 2001) give authorities guidance on their role in monitoring and supporting schools causing concern.
