To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether the IEA has met to discuss the possible scenarios arising from a conflict in Iraq; who the members of the IEA are; and if she will make a statement. [78289]

The International Energy Agency regularly discusses oil market issues in the Governing Board and in two committees, the Standing Group on the Oil Market and the Standing Group on Emergency Questions. Scenarios relating to a wide range of global issues, including the Middle East, are a normal part of assessment of oil market developments.

The International Energy Agency has 26 member countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States and Norway (Norway participates under a special Agreement). The European Commission also participates in the work of the IEA.
