HL Deb 28 May 2002 vol 635 c141WA
Baroness Miller of Chilthorne Domer

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What guidance they have issued to local authorities which wish to create quiet lanes (as defined by the Transport Act 2000) where the routes of such lanes necessitate crossing A and B roads with regard to the visibility splays necessary for (a) pedestrians, (b) horse-riders and (c) cyclists. [HL4469]

Lord Falconer of Thoroton

It is for local highway authorities to consider such matters and take action where necessary. The department may provide technical advice following the completion of a current research project to monitor two pilot quiet lane schemes.
