To ask the Secretary of State for Health (1) how many DXA scanners there are in(a) Hull and the East Riding and (b) England and Wales; [57580]

(2) what plans his Department has for the purchase of new DXA scanners. [57581]

Decisions about the purchase of dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) scanners are made by NHS trusts in the light of local needs and priorities.

Information about the number of DXA scanners is not available centrally. Information relating to Wales is a matter for the National Assembly for Wales.
