HC Deb 14 May 2002 vol 385 c528W
Mr. Heald

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development how many days of sick leave were taken in her Department last year; how many related to employees suffering(a) stress and (b) other mental health problems; and what the cost was to her Department. [56479]

Clare Short

8,399 days were taken in the year 2000, the last year for which published figures are available.

Information on sick leave is not held by these precise categories but can be provided in terms of staff suffering from stress related illnesses generally. The number of days lost in 2000 in this category was 1,277.

Information on costs is not readily available and could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.
