asked Her Majesty's Government:

Further to the Written Answers by Baroness Scotland of Asthal on 17 January 2002 (WA 171) and 7 February 2001 (WA 110), when they will be in a position to extend the self-governing Overseas Territories Protocol 6 to the European Convention on Human Rights concerning the abolition of the death penalty. The Government expect to be in a position to extend the Sixth Protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights to the Overseas Territories when capital punishment for treason and piracy has been abolished in the Turks and Caicos Islands, which is expected to be later this year.
