§ Mr. TimmsPrimary school standards have improved considerably since 1997, and we are committed to raising standards further. We have set challenging targets for 2004, that 85 per cent. of 11-year-olds should achieve the expected standard, level 4, and that 35 per cent. should achieve level 5. We are confident that we will see further improvements in the Key Stage 2 results this year, which will provide a good platform for achieving the 2004 targets.
