HC Deb 02 May 2002 vol 384 c914W
Mr. Bercow

To ask the Secretary of State for International Development what recent assessment she has made of the value for money achieved by the National Agency for the Development and Implementation of Reconstruction Programmes in Romania. [49194]

Clare Short

The National Agency for the Development and Implementation of the Reconstruction Programmes for the Mining Regions (NAD) was set up as an autonomous agency by the Government of Romania in February 1998. Its remit is to achieve the social and economic regeneration of communities in mining regions. It is still in the process of fully developing its capacity and skills, support for which is being given by my Department and the World bank. It is too early to assess the value for money being achieved by NAD.
