To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the answer of 23 April 2002,Official Report, columns 127–28W, what percentage of revenue raised by the climate change levy in 2001–02 has been (a) recycled to business through a reduction in employers' national insurance contributions and (b) funds targeted programmes of support measures for business investing in energy-saving technologies and practices; and if he will make a statement. As set out in the answer of 23 April 2002,Official Report, columns 127–28W, climate change levy receipts for the year 2001–02 were £551 million. The 0.3 percentage point reduction in employers' national insurance contributions was worth approximately £1 billion in 2001–02. The scheme of enhanced capital allowances was expected to cost £70 million in 2001–02 and an additional £50 million was allocated to support for energy efficiency and renewable energy.
