HC Deb 18 March 2002 vol 382 cc105-6W
Mr. Shaw

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what powers she has to overturn a decision by the schools adjudicator where he has ruled that a school cannot increase its intake due to cost and proximity to another equivalent school. [43981]

Mr. Timms

Schools adjudicators are independent of the Secretary of State. She has no powers to overturn any decision made by them. Their decisions can be overturned only by the Courts.
