[holding answer 5 March 2002]: Currently any establishment intending to provide either nursing or personal care to its resident would have to register under the Registered Homes Act 1984. From April 2002 onwards, all establishments providing personal or nursing care will have to be registered under the Care Standards Act 2000 and will be subject to the relevant national minimum standards. Establishments will be inspected by the National Care Standards Commission.
