To ask the Secretary of State for Health what discussions his Department has had with Her Majesty's Treasury on the VAT on building costs paid by Macmillan Cancer Relief. [36914]

Responsibility for the Value Added Tax law rests with by right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the 1615W Exchequer. Officials from the Department have recently accompanied officials from Customs and Excise at an initial meeting with Macmillan.
