HL Deb 27 June 2002 vol 636 c151WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What human rights concerns they raised in the discussions with Mr Li Ruihuan, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, during his recent visit to the United Kingdom; and with what results. [HL4675]

The Minister for Trade (Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean)

My noble and learned friend the Lord Chancellor raised a number of issues of current concern, including freedom of speech, Tibet and the need for dialogue with the Dalai Lama, Falun Gong, and the use of the death penalty. Mr Li replied along standard lines.
