To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what plans she has to make provision for a GCSE in performing arts and related disciplines. [60877]

As indicated in the Green Paper: "14–19 Extending Opportunities, Raising Standards", the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority has been asked by the Department to begin work on the development of additional titles for new GCSEs in vocational subjects. Advice is awaited on the range of possible titles, and timings for implementation.
