To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will make a statement on the increase in air traffic, over the last 30 years, using UK airports. [60429]

The number of passengers using UK airports has increased from 35 mppa in 1971 to 180 mppa in 2001. This corresponds to an average annual increase of 5.9 per cent. in passengers using UK airports over this 30 year period.
