To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list the public consultations undertaken by his Department since June 2001, stating in each case the(a) number of respondents and (b) percentage of those specifically consulted who responded. [60151]

My Department has undertaken two formal written public consultations since June 2001:

  1. (1) A Green Paper on Private Military Companies—options for regulation: and
  2. (2) A Green Paper on Strengthening the Biological and Toxic Weapons Convention: Countering the Threat from biological Weapons. Neither consultation will be completed until September this year.
