HC Deb 10 June 2002 vol 386 cc866-7W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, pursuant to the answer to the hon. Member for Nottingham, North (Mr. Allen) on 24 April 2002, Official Report, column 336W, on tax concessions, what the time scale is for the review; whether there will be a specific review team; whether there will be (a) external and (b) independent advisers; and whether external consultations will be carried out. [59864]

Dawn Primarolo

The Chancellor announced a review of the residence and domicile rules as they affect the tax liabilities of individuals in his Budget statement. The work of the review is being undertaken by the Inland Revenue and HM Treasury. They are facilitating consultation by writing directly to representative bodies and other interested parties, inviting their contributions. They would also be pleased to hear from other sources. The Government will report on this issue in time for the pre-Budget report.
