To ask the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry how many consultation exercises the Department has launched in each year since 1997. [59376]

Since the introduction of the Consultation Code on 1 January 2001, consultation documents have been issued as follows:

  • 1 January to 31 December 2001: 65
  • 1 January 2002 to date: 7.

Records relating to consultations issued before the introduction of the Consultation Code on 1 January 2001 are not held centrally.
