The Prime Minister has announced that the Queen has approved the appointment of Mr Richard Thomas as the new Information Commissioner, to succeed Mrs Elizabeth France CBE later this year. Mr Thomas is currently Director of Public Policy at the law firm Clifford Chance. He is expected to take up his duties as commissioner on 30 November.
