§ Mr. Hilary BennIn 2001, 21 deaths of approved hostel residents were reported. Of these three were recorded as suicide, and a further 12 as a result of drug overdoses. Of the remaining six, five were from apparently natural causes and one resident died in a road traffic accident.
We do not keep a central record of incidents of self-harm in approved hostels.
