On 22 July 2001, my noble Friend Baroness Amos attended the memorial service in Dublin to mark the 25th anniversary of the assassination in 1976 of Christopher Ewart-Biggs, Ambassador to Ireland. She met the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, and the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Brian Cowen, as well as a number of other senior Irish representatives.
