HC Deb 15 July 2002 vol 389 c8W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how he defines a significant accident in the context of MAIB investigations. [68749]

Mr. Jamieson

The Secretary of State for Transport is guided by the criteria laid down in the Merchant Shipping (Accident Reporting and Investigation) Regulations 1999. These define "accidents" but do not categorise them in degrees of severity. There is no definition of "significant" accident.
