HC Deb 10 July 2002 vol 388 c996W
Mr. Hendry

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Skills what the total budget across all Government Departments was for spending on statutory education for 11 to 18-year-olds in schools and sixth form colleges in England in the last year for which figures are available. [68085]

Mr. Miliband

[holding answer 9 July 2002]: The total budget or Local Schools Budget (LSB) for secondary schools for 2002–03 is £11,829.5 million. This is the amount appropriated by the authorities for meeting all secondary expenditure by them in that year, including expenditure on central functions such as transport, as well as schools' delegated budgets.

The Learning and Skills Council has allocated £452.0 million for sixth form colleges for 2002–03.
