To ask the Deputy Prime Minister and First Secretary of State if he will make a statement on his Department's policy on the planning process in relation to the establishment of asylum accommodation centres. [64164]

Mr. McNulty

The Deputy Prime Minister's policy is to adhere to the procedures set out in part IV of the memorandum to DoE circular 18/84. These require the developing Department to serve a notice of proposed development on the local planning authority.
