HC Deb 02 July 2002 vol 388 cc257-8W
Miss McIntosh

To ask the Secretary of Stae for Culture, Media and Sport what estimate she has made of the contribution to the UK economy of British interior and garden design in the last 12 months. [64491]

Dr. Howells

Responsibility for the sponsorship of design rests with the Department of Trade and Industry. The Creative Industries Mapping Document 2001, published by my Department in March 2001, estimated that the size of design related activity within the UK economy as a whole at £26.7 billion. No separate estimates were made for interior and garden design.
