HC Deb 28 January 2002 vol 379 c25W
Annabelle Ewing

To ask the Prime Minister what plans he has to make representations to the Indian Government with respect to the case of Ian Stillman; and if he will make a statement. [30865]

The Prime Minister

I am aware of the case of Mr. Stillman. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the British high commission in New Delhi have made many high-level representations to the Indian authorities about Mr. Stillman. The most recent of these was a meeting on 2 January 2002 between the British high commissioner in New Delhi and the Indian Home Minister. We shall continue to monitor Mr. Stillman's welfare while in jail and ensure that his special needs are catered for as far as possible.
