HC Deb 21 January 2002 vol 378 c650W
Llew Smith

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what the average hourly wage in each travel to work area is at the latest date for which figures are available. [28505]

Ruth Kelly

The information requested falls within the responsibility of the National Statistician. I have asked him to reply.

Letter from John Kidgell to Mr. Llew Smith, dated 21 January 2002: The National Statistician has been asked to reply to your recent Parliamentary Question about the average hourly earnings by travel to work area. I am replying in his absence. (28505) The New Earnings Survey (NES) provides earnings data for full-time employees on adult rates of pay. The most recent estimates for average hourly earnings for all travel to work areas in Great Britain are for April 2000. I have deposited a table showing these in the House of Commons Library.
