HC Deb 15 January 2002 vol 378 cc245-6W
Mr. Bercow

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what evidence he has on the effects of the rise in part-time employment on the level of demand for bank notes. [27443]

Ruth Kelly

There could be some effect on the demand for money from labour market developments, such as the rise in part-time employment, although the levels of economic activity and prices, nominal interest rates and the inflation rate are usually viewed as more important. Contributory factors to the growth in part-time employment are assessed in Box B1, Annex B of the Financial Stateral and Budget Reportof FSBR 2001.
