HC Deb 09 January 2002 vol 377 c819W
Mr. Dalyell

To ask The Prime Minister, pursuant to his letter of 11 December to the hon. Member for Linlithgow in relation to the letter from the Religious Society of Friends in Britain, what encouragement Her Majesty's Government have given the US Government to ratify the Statute of the International Criminal Court. [23646]

The Prime Minister

The issue has been discussed bilaterally with Secretary of State Powell as well as with officials in the US Administration. The EU, as part of its Common Policy towards the ICC, has expressed concern at the proposed introduction of legal measures which might in any way impede or delay the USA's ultimate ratification of the Rome Statute or future relations with the Court.
